Aaron Michael Crampton, born May 1, 2003, 7:20 p.m., 8 lbs 6.5 oz, 21.5 inches, with the prettiest blue eyes. He was stuck in the birth canal, when finally freed; he entered the world without breathing. The Dr. did his best to help Aaron out, but not without causing a Brachial Plexus Injury (BPI). Also known as Erb's Palsy, he couldn't move his left arm, wrist, or fingers. The nerve roots that controlled the left side of his body were severed during delivery, Aaron was rushed to the Neonatal Center where he spent several days, his breathing was shallow and he wasn't swallowing correctly. When Aaron was discharged from the hospital it was very difficult, the release care instructions were vague. We didn't know what to do, but were constantly reassured that everything was fine. This is how Aaron's life began, we safety pinned his sleeve to his outfit to keep his arm from falling lifelessly down. Upon getting settled into life outside the womb we immediately began therapy services. Five years later, Aaron lives with Erb's Palsy, Autism, Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome and various therapy services everyday. |
